Hi,
    I just had this problem on Ubuntu Edgy, it was because of the new
Composite extention to X11, which means stereo stops working.  Perhaps
FC6 is using it also.

The fix was to add:
------------------------->8-------------------------------------------
Section "Extensions"
        Option "Composite" "false"
EndSection
------------------------->8-------------------------------------------
...to the end of /etc/X11/xorg.conf

I guess this is the fix, especially quoting Nvidia:

"Workstation overlays, stereo visuals, and the unified back buffer
(UBB) are incompatible with Composite. These features will be
automatically disabled when Composite is detected."
