>OSX stereo if the user selects a stereo environment that is supported by the graphics card, i work with the stereo visual. if one is in mono while using the stereo visual, i use front and back buffers. this indeed causes some flickering. i was not concerned about it since i assumed one would be in stereo, and it was not too disturbing. going backwards and forwards between stereo and mono hasn't trapped an image (like Luca describes) for me at least. i've noticed that under linux, the mono performance is poorer when the stereo visual is being used. this doesn't seem to be the case on our G5. i will experiment a little to see if i can cut down the flicker. >3d-connexion devices spurred on my the question from Sabuj before christmas, i ordered the latest USB devices that i thought o users might be interested in. i got the SpaceNavigator and SpaceTraveler. they cost $60 and $199 in the USA. they look like dials, but they are not. it was easy to connect to the OSX version of O, and i have them controlling the view already. i confess that i'm using just 3 of the 6 degrees of freedom; i found 6 a bit too off-putting, but maybe that is just practice. i think i'll end up feeding their output into the arcade system so a use can decide how to use them. i found no advantage for the expensive one over the cheap one. erling has them generating output under linux too. i suspect USB versions of the SpacePilot and SpaceExplorer will be recognized BUT i don't have these devices (just serial versions which are NOT recognized). they cost $399 and $299, which is too expensive. i think the navigator is better than griffin's dial. i could set it up to make the twist like the arrow key input of the dial and the tilts to be rotations. there are a few options to try.
