The real alternative to the 7300GT is the expensive NVIDIA graphics card (Quadro FX4500) which also has a stereo connector. So if you plan to use Stereo, that might be a reason to pay for it. Other than that, the 7300GT is more than adequate for crystallographic work with the programs you mention.
