How to define the ODAT directory under Windows 95

Hi O'rld:

What is a Windows equivalent for UNIX 

setenv ODAT "/o/datafiles/"

I tried with
set ODAT=d:\o\datafiles\
in AUTOEXEC.BAT, but it did not work. NT_O works fine
if started from d:\o\datafiles\
