Hello, I have just got our dials up and running on a R10000, IRIX 6.2 machine! Here are the steps to follow:- 1). Check out the patches below (as taken from O home page I think), most of these have been updated (1447, 1472, 1572, 1574 all have I think) but 1576 has not. Patches to SGI machines to run O on Irix 6.2 Patch SG0001447: Bug fix patch for Indigo2 Impact and Impact 10000 Patch SG0001472: Elan, EX and XZ graphics for Irix6.2 for Indigo2 R10000 Patch SG0001572: 6.2 streams rollup patch Patch SG0001574: X server patch for Irix 6.2 Patch SG0001576: Input driver for dial box without button box Patches are available on the Web or try SG help desk/customer support they were really helpfull. ================================================================== 2). Then you need to add the operating system (as below from O home page) The software is on the first of the two CDs. Getting the Dials up and running The dial box may look as if it is not working with O under new versions of Irix OS. This is because the default is not to include them in the OS anymore. So you need to add a subset of the operating system called eoe.sw.optinput & eoe.man.optinput. This is the Optional Input Devices software from one of the CDs. You may/will need to reboot after installation. =================================================== 3). Go to the system manager and fire up port setup, check which port the dials are connected to and click LHMB to turn the icon yellow, hit connect (you will need root password) and a series of icons will be shown, choose dials and exit. 4). Fire up O and see if it works, if not try a reboot after step 3). and fire O up again. Hope this works! Amanda J.
