Unfortunately, airlines are quite restrictive upon what you may carry with you,
both on board as well as in your luggage (at least here in Europe). 
Liquid nitrogen is considered as something similar to compressed gas and thus 
not allowed, even when it's in a sponge inside the dewar. So you have to use a 
parcel service, etc. to ship it.
  However, dry ice seems not to be any problem. So, if you could freeze and 
transport your crystals like that and put them into liquid nitrogen at the site, 
this should come handy. But one should check out before, if the crystals 
withstand such a treatment ;-)
